Christmas cards 2014

I have this snowman embossing folder (from Sizzix) and I used it a lot this Christmas. I like the grunge feel and the snowflakes on it.

Another technique I have used for these cards is braying! Yes, I have a brayer now!!! I think braying works better on the other side of the embossed paper otherwise it seems to go everywhere - or maybe it's just I need more practice to master it.

You can tell I used strong colours on these two cards which really showed the contrast and I do love this effect.

This one I used a Sizzix embossing folder and it happened I just turned this bird into a robin! Also coloured the stamped sentiment with glitter pen to give it more festive feel.

It's your day

For this card, I used some cut out from the stock paper and had the stamps to go with them, I think it all turned out well. The colours worked nicely together and I certainly like the embossing sentiment. One good thing about handmade card is you can have specific date or name on it to make it very personal. The recipient loved it, job done!

Make a wish

I have learned a new technique here by creating my own stock paper - used a dotted stamp and stamped it on the paper, then used the balloon punch to cut it out. I think this is a great way to make stock paper as there are lots of background stamps I can use, and most importantly, I can choose the colour I want to go with the design.

Notecard

This is a simple Thank You notecard which I just embossed and added a sentiment. Sometime less is more :-)

Time to celebrate!

Really excited about this card because I wanted to use this stamp for a long time. Got the idea from Hero Arts blog and this stamp works quite well here. Love the sticky gems which represent bubbles and the water drops print on the paper, they somehow all matched the ink colours.

Hello

This card took me a long time to make...... simply because I did not have any design in mind, and as my mentor always says - "design is the most difficult part, implementation is easy" - which I couldn't agree more!

I have this lovely set of dotted stamps and surprisingly I used them in a completely differently way. The "hello" floral motif is background by the smaller ones behind which I think really compliment each other. The colour scheme - I just love it! So bright and energetic! Unexpected result again for this card and time well spent.

I am here for you...

Both the clock and sentiment stamps are from Hero Arts collection which I love. I tried to use the colours that is more vibrant and cheerful as this card suppose to cheer someone up! I have tried different colour inks combination and these two colours seem work nicely together. Have you noticed the bakers twine I used here? Its my new discovery :) I think they are ideal for adding extra touches here and there, also gives a relaxing feel too!
